It isn’t enough to have enough.
A group of women learns how to cook healthy and vital supplementary food out of wheat, lenses, nuts and sugarcane extract for small children.
Since: it isn’t enough to have enough. Hunger can only be fought successfully if there is enough food and if it ensures a balanced alimentation. Especially children often suffer from malnutrition in development countries – and this has consequences for the rest of their lives in their first 1,000 days of life. Health counsellors inform about background information in practical cooking courses with fresh, locally available aliments. The participants learn together and from each other and they cook healthy meals together.
With success; Woman and children eat healthier, their social connections are strengthened and every new learning experience makes them trust in their own skills and an independent future.
”Women start to understand the influence they have on the health of their families. This is very important, if the change should last”, explains Nasiche, health counsellor in Uganda.
- 842 millions of people all over the world suffer from hunger.
- More than 8,500 children die before their fifth year of life because of chronic and acute malnutrition.
