Vitriini is a collection of small jewels for homes, to store and present your favourite pieces. Many different boxes in numerous colours are playfully combinable – the possibilities are nearly endless.
The collection, which has been designed by the glass designer Anu Penttinen, is a master example for the design philosophy of Iittala: The Vitriini boxes are wonderful multipurpose accessories for every day, looking gorgeous alone or together.
The name “Vitriini” means showcase in Finnish, and the small boxes really deserve that name. They are the frame for all the small things we use every day: keys, jewellery, office items or beloved souvenirs from the past holidays. Everything is organised in them without the need of hiding single pieces in drawers or cupboards.
The Vitriini Collection grew steadily since its presentation in 2010: Many sizes and colours were added, as well as new materials. Wood, aluminium, Durat and cork are also contrastive iin the glass series by Iittala. This versatility makes it possible to combine them as individually as the users themselves: Different sizes, materials and colours make up wild, colourful, romantic or graphic images in homes – according to personal tastes. That’s the reason why the Vitriini series by Iittala has been honoured with the iF Award in gold.
Regardless of all the modernity, Iittala remains faithful to the glass tradition with the Vitriini series: All the glass parts are mouth-blown, collectors might smile at this.
