The brothers Ronan und Erwan Bouroullec count to the contemporaneously most influential designers. The French brothers work on common projects since more than ten years. A symbiosis that is worthwhile: Ronan’s drawing talent and Erwan’s expertise in technique and material created designs that have already been established as living design classics long time ago – among them the “Vegetal” chair which is distributed by Vitra. As well as for the “Vegetal” design, nature has been the inspiration source with its forms and colours for the creations of the Buroullec brothers.
To reach this inspiration source, and to gain a glimpse into the origin of their works, a visit to the Vitra Design Museum gallery in Weil am Rhein is worthwhile. Focusing on the designs, the “Album” exposition offers a nearer view on the work of the French on a completely new way, behind the scenes. The exposition can be visited from the 03.02.2012 to the 28.05.2012.
About the Vitra Design Museum:
Already in the 80es, Rolf Fehlbaum (the proprietor of Vitra) had the desire of creating a design museum, which documents design-influences and the history of the company. The desire has been realized in 1989 and the Vitra Design Museum opened its gates as public museum.
The museum established as international culture institution today, it provides design and focuses on furniture and interior design. Not only the expositions are worth a visit, but also the architecture of the museum – Frank O. Gehry created the unusual construction as his first work on European grounds.
