The Good Design Award of the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design is one of the most traditional design awards of the world. The winners of this year’s awarding were published in mid-December, among them names such as Vitra, Eva Solo, Bodum, Müller Möbelwerkstätten, Rosenthal and Mono.
Already founded by Edgar Kaufman in 1950, the Good Design Award is given every year to demanding and innovative designs. Organizer and founder of the Good Design Award is the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. It is the most prestigious cultural institution of Chicago and the only museum of its kind in the USA. Approx. 3000 presentations out of more than 40 nations that wish to receive one of the desired trophies enter the competition every year.
The decision criteria of the jury, which is composed by company-managers, international diplomats and professionals of the design and arts scene, is especially focused on innovation, form, material, construction, concept, function, utility and aesthetic impress of the products.
