3. Solinger Schneidwaren-Samstag

With the slogan „handicraft & Tradition – Made in Germany“, the 3rd Solingen cutlery Saturday will take place the 16th of July 2011. Five traditional Solingen companies: Carl Mertens, Güde, Nageloh, Kretzer and Windmühlenmesser open the gates of their factories and offer a glimpse into the handicraft production of high quality cutlery ware.

From 9 to 16 O’clock, the factories of the Solingen companies will be open. Enthusiasts of high quality cutting tools as well as those that are interested can experience how knives, scissors, cutlery and tongs are produced on a traditional way. Carl Mertens, Güde, Niegeloh, Kretzer and Windmühlenmesser are long-established Solingen family companies and connect traditional handicraft with modern company-structures. Carl Mertens for example, produces cutlery since 1919, as well as gifts and living accessories, Windmühlenmesser already exists since 1872.

Further information about the event, the participating companies and the route map are on the homepage of the Solingen company Solinger Schneidwaren-Samstags (German page).
