The Cologne furniture fair in the following January has a new highlight: The new format “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage“ focuses on the future of home design!
How will we furnish tomorrow? Will the bedroom still consist of bed, night table and wardrobe, the office of desk and folders-shelf? And what will our furniture look like? Will we still have single rooms and always four walls?
“Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” embodies a completely individual approach where architectural elements, interior rooms and outdoor areas as well as arrangements of furniture and decoration melt to a subjective interior design. The task of the cologne fair for “Das Haus” is to create an artificial living situation according to personal wishes from designers.
The selected designer for the first edition of “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” are Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien of the London design studio Doshi Levien. The result of their creative work swirls about all conventional ideas of living regarding aesthetics and content but still being a realistic and inviting solution. For example, it seems to be a trend to erase the borders between kitchen, eating and living.
The Doshi Levien house will be found in the middle of the Cologne furniture fair 2012, in the hall 3.2 at „Pure Village“. Both designers build a completely individual home in the centre of the imm cologne: according to their own plans and ideas, with their own furniture, their own bathroom, favorite pieces of other brands and prototypes of their studio. How many transparency the marriage permits and how many intimacy is created is not explained before.
The young design team Doshi Levien is known for original designs for large companies such as Moroso, Authentics, or Cappellini. Furthermore Doshi and Levien connect different cultures, industry, technologies and handicraft techniques. ”We are happy we won a progressive and trendsetting studio with “Das Haus”, which is not only part of the avant-garde scene, but also brings a great broadband for product development being able to set real signs” said Dick Spierenburg who leads the intern creative team that developed the new concept of the Cologne furniture fair.
The Cologne furniture fair is from the 16th to the 22nd of January 2012. Find further information on the Homepage of the imm cologne.
