The Danish company Hay presented the first product by Stefan Diez on the Orgatec 2012: New Order.
While many Hay enthusiasts couldn’t wait for the launch of the New Order shelf (estimated for the 4th quarter of 2014), Stefan Diez and Rolf Hay already finalized the next project: Kitt Chair.
Kitt is a chair which embodies clear industrial furniture design. The design icon No.14 by Thonet was the classic model for this new chair. The famous coffee house chair by Thonet is still considered the first piece of furniture industrially made. Its kind of construction made it possible to ship up to 36 demounted chairs in one cubic meter to the whole world.
With this classic chair in mind, Diez designed the Kitt Chair, whose round image doesn’t only result of the backrest, which has nearly the size of the seat. The model as well as Kitt can both be demounted and delivered in smaller parcels, and they are demountable without any tools. The seat and backrest of the mass-capable chair are made of ash wood veneer, the feet of wood. The frame and connection elements are made of polyamide, which is adapted to the wood or also available in different creative colours. The chair is going to cost less than 200€ and it is going to be available from 2015.
