As soon as the brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec were named „Designers of the year 2013“ by the renowned A&W Magazine, they caught every eye on this year’s imm Cologne with a new product.
Ready Made is the name of the curtain system, which was presented by the Danish textiles manufacturer Kvadrat in the event of this year’s cologne furniture fair in the DesignPost. The Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec designed, ceiling and wall mountable ropes system easily brings selected Kvadrat fabrics in front of every window.
The basic thought behind the Ready Made curtain was to create a “Do-It-Yourself Kit” for curtains, which would be easy to fix by everyone and without huge efforts. Both French were inspired by a Japanese catalogue out of the 1950s.
Only a curtain tissue, a hanging fixture, clamps, rope, screws and dowels are in the delivery package. Curtains are easily mounted, even by non-experts, with these few basic elements. Not only the simple and genius clamps system of Ready Made convinces, but also the fabrics by Kvadrat (optionally a fleece fabric or wool fabric) surprise, since they are also easily shortened with a scissor if necessary.
The Ready Made kit is expected to be available from April 2013. For those of you that want more information about this, there is some on the Kvadrat homepage: http://readymadecurtain.kvadrat.dk
