The company Umbra presented the new collection “Umbra Shift” on the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York for the first time on the past weekend.

Umbra Shift is an expansion of the Canadian company based in Toronto and contentrates on contemporaneous influences of the design community. The new collectionmakes Umbra go back to its roots as well: Umbra represents products that break through traditions with innovative designs, re-defining everyday-objects since more than 30 years.

Umbra Shift: Re-defining everyday objects

Umbra worked together with an interesting team of designers for the new collection Umbra Shift, which included established designers as well as newcomers and In-House-designers. Some of them are Harry Allen, Hlynur Atlason, MSDS, Philippe Malouin, Albert Lee, Lukas Peet, Fugitive Glue or Paul Loebach. They all support Umbra’s passion of re-thinking and developing personal objects they would want for themselves.

The Shift collection includes products that express different points of view because of the liberty the designers of Umbra have while working. The collection Umbra Shift has bizarre works, such as the Hanger Chair from Philippe Malouin, a wooden foldable chair with included clothes hanger to be hanged, Harry Allen’s Coiled Chair, an ergonomic stool with a fibre-coated tractor seat out of rattan or Paul Loebach’s Cup Lamp, which has the advantages or a normal lamp including a pen holder, being also equipped with an integrated USB-hub.

The Umbra Shift collection will be available from July / August 2014.
