Marimekko - Siirtolapuutarha Collection

Marimekko - Siirtolapuutarha Collection - Banner

Siirtolapuutarha is the kind of cryptical name of the Marimekko series, which includes different objects for the kitchen and the dining table. The Finnish word means as much as “small garden” and it describes the colourful mix of the included products: bowls, teapots, plates, cups and mugs are the big family of things with personal characteristics, each one of them.

The foundation of the Marimekko Siirtolapuutarha products is as well colourful: The iconic Räsymatto pattern on the service was created by Maija Louekari, while Sami Routsalainen designed the simple, clean shapes of the Oiva called dishes collection.

The single objects of the Siirtolapuutarha Collection act especially beautiful when they are combined with each other. The interplay of the different characters with Siirtolapuutarha patterns was important to Louekari and Routsalienen when they designed the series from the beginning, since the colourful variety gives the name to it.
