The Norm 69 as a basis for big success

Normann Copenhagen has been founded in the year 1999 by Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen. The idea behind Normann Copenhagen was and is still to establish a new design approach. Three years after its founding, the company’s first product was presented: the Norm 69 lamp.
A pendant light to be assembled the user which has rapidly grown to become a modern design classic.

2002, Normann Copenhagen relaunched the lamp designed by Simon Karkov in 1969 under the name Norm 69
In terms of the following years, numerous further products followed as well as cooperation with well-known designers and talents from around the world.

Normann Copenhagen - award-winning design products

2005, Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen with Normann Copenhagen moved from their small office into the 1,700-square-metre rooms of an old cinema in Copenhagen. The rooms offer not only the appropriate environment for the company and its award-winning products, but also serve as a venue for parties, exhibitions, and other events. Normann Copenhagen sees itself not only as a manufacturer of innovative design products, but also as a way of life and point of view.

At Normann Copenhagen, one wants to break through conventional design rules and known challenges. This is a main reason for the frequent use of known materials in novel contexts, such as for example, silicone for a vase or rubber for a washing bowl. Products by Normann Copenhagen have been repeatedly awarded prestigious design awards.
