It was designed in 1924 by Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900–1990).
After completing an apprenticeship at a silverware factory and attending a drawing academy, he was accepted as a journeyman into the world-famous Bauhaus workshop, where he created the “Wagenfeld Lamp &,” also known as the “ & Bauhaus Lamp & .” With his designs in metal and glass, Wagenfeld became one of the most important industrial designers of his time.
The Wagenfeld lamp consists of an opal-colored glass dome; the base, column, and trim are made of nickel-plated metal. Metal hemispheres beneath the base plate—which are invisible to the viewer—give the lamp its “ & ” “lightness & .”
The lamp is manufactured according to the original dimensions and materials of Tecnolumen . All lamps are sequentially numbered beneath the base plate and bear the Bauhaus and Tecnolumen logos. The lamp is shipped without a light bulb.
The Wagenfeld lamp was awarded the federal “Gute Form & ” prize in 1982 and was named one of the “Best 200 for the Year 2000 & .”
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0959/1760/5208/files/Tecnolumen-Wagenfeld-Leuchte-WA24-mit-Metallfuss_b62b8e8e-3c2d-4b40-a067-c22390955a27.jpg?v=1779275352
