Sustainability, ecological compatibility and long-lasting quality - more and more consumers consider more than just design when buying furniture. Seals of approval and certificates from recognised independent companies provide information about the quality and production of a product.
Seals & Certificates for Furniture and Textiles
One of the first and oldest seals of approval is the Blue Angel. The seal is now a market-compliant instrument of environment politics, created after a decision by the German Federal Government and the German states in 1978. The Blue Angel particularly marks the positive environmental and sustainable characteristics of products. Since then, and with growing awareness of consumers, a number of other institutions have committed to regularly reviewing their products and manufacturing conditions against certain criteria.
No matter material, environmental compatibility, sustainability or proof of a product being produced under good social conditions, the labels and certificates such as Spielgut, Woolmark blend, FSC-certified, GoodWeave or the GS label allow the consumer to buy furniture and textiles recognised for being produced under fair and sustainable conditions.
