Moved by the will of offering practical and formally perfect furniture pieces for the daily use to the public, Werder Max Moser, Siegfried Giedion and Rudolf Graber founded “wohnbedarf” (living products) in the year 1931. Some of the own manufactured furniture pieces by namely artists, architects and designers such as Max Bill, Le Corbusier, Alvar Aalto, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Richard Raul Lohse, Willy Guhl or Gottfried Honegger are considered real classics since then.
Also today “wohnbedarf” manufactures furniture that remains current – classics out of the 30s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s and modern furniture from today that will advance to classics tomorrow. Perfectly explained by Arthur Rüegg, architect and professor for architecture: “The “wohnbedarf AG” is more than a simple furniture shop: it is a Zurich institution since 1931 and a borders-crossing acting cultural mind regarding living culture.”
