The Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide has produced the Tolomeo lamp by designers Giancarlo Fassina and Michele De Lucchi since 1987. With Tolomeo, the design duo created a groundbreaking and highly successful desk lamp, which today can be found on the desks of countless architecture offices and agencies and is also very popular in private homes.
The highly flexible frame, the simple aluminium look and the hat-shaped shade are the hallmarks of the Tolomeo, whose simple, archetypal form has inspired many manufacturers and designers to create similar lamps.
The classic Tolomeo table lamp has won a number of important design awards and can be found in numerous museums around the world, including the renowned Museum of Modern Art in New York in the USA.
