1. Sizes and shapes: finding the right wall hooks

3. Coat hooks: how high should you mount them?

When mounting them, think about who will use the hooks and position them so that every family member can easily reach coats and bags. Coat hooks for children should be mounted at a height of 100 centimetres, for teenagers at 145 centimetres and for adults at 170 centimetres.
The larger the hooks, the more space you should leave between them. For an attractive overall look, leave a gap of at least twice the width of a hook between each one.
4. Mounting: how do you fix wall hooks?
If the wall hooks are to serve as a coat rack, it's best to fix them firmly to the wall with a drill and wall plug. That way, you can be sure the hooks will hold – even when children in a hurry tug at jackets or scarves, or when lots of guests come round and hang several jackets on one hook.
For the kitchen or bathroom, suction hooks are a good choice. You can attach them to tiles without any drilling and move them around whenever you like. Please note: these hooks are mainly suitable for small utensils and light textiles.
