Cast Iron Glass Tabletop
The Alva One table by Pulpo is a design of the German designer Sebastian Herkner, who is known for his unique designs over the years. With his work, he shows that he has an eye for unexpected yet timeless design. His goal was to use glass in a new and special way in order to create a solid piece of furniture with unique characteristics.
Steel Frame with an Acute Angle
Unlike glasswork in other areas of furniture design, the Alwa tabletop is not made from mouth blown glass but from cast glass. The tabletop is manufactured from a specific procedure, in which the glass is left to harden in a mould for a few days. The glass is characterised by a dynamic structure that is reminiscent of the aesthetics of water. The partially transparent glass element is complemented by a powder-coated steel frame, which acts as a great contrast to the tabletop not only because of its material, but also by its angular shape.
Each Piece is Unique
The result is a distinctive piece of furniture that is suitable both as a coffee table in front of the sofa, or as an alternative bedside that instantly adds character to the bedroom.
Small air pockets and streaks, as well as slight variations in colour and size are characteristic of handmade glass and are not due to defects in design or manufacturing. Each piece is unique
