Chair with Eiffel Tower base
The Wire Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames are formally a variation of the Eames Plastic Side Chairs. DKR with the legendary "Eiffel Tower Base", combines transparency and functionality. In the powder-coated versions, it is also suitable for use in the garden and on the terrace.
Unpadded, with seat cushion or bikini
With the Wire Chair made of welded steel wire, Charles and Ray Eames varied the theme of the organically shaped, one-piece seat shell with an expression of light transparency and high technicality. They are available with different base frames. The Wire Chairs are available unupholstered, with a seat cushion or equipped with seat and back cushions. The latter are also called "bikini" due to their shape.
2016 revised classic chair
In 2016, Vitra the base of the Wire Chairs was raised by about 20 mm and its geometry adjusted accordingly. These measures, which are hardly noticeable aesthetically, give the classic chair improved seating comfort in combination with contemporary tables.
Wire Chair DKW
The seat shell made of spot-welded steel wire gives the Wire Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames transparency and the wooden base of the DKW model (Dining Chair K-Wire Wood Base) creates a homely contrast to the fundamentally technical appearance. DKW is only available with black powder-coated metal surfaces, the chair legs in different maple woods.
