The Pedrera Coffee Table by Gubi was created in the mid-1950s. Innovative in its expression and choice of materials at the time, it is now considered a classic. The thought-out and sophisticated design hasn’t lost any of its classic charm over the decades and adds an easy-going atmosphere to modern furnishings and classic ensembles.
The design of the Pedrera coffee table was created by the Spanish architect and designer Barba Corsini. In 1953, he was asked by a real estate company that was managing Antonio Gaudi’s famous residential building “La Pedrera” to design apartments for the attic storey.
In addition to the 13 individual apartments that Corsini designed for the Pedrera Building, he also created the suitable lamps and furniture pieces. Part of that were the Pedrera side table as well as the Pedrera lamps that are altogether manufactured by Gubi today.
Thanks to the Pedrera project, Barba Corsini reached international recognition and his furniture went on to become design classics. The Pedrera side table is made by Gubi with a frame out of matte lacquered steel and possesses an organically shaped glass top.
