In 1963 the Danish architect and designer Poul Kjærholm furnished the town hall of Fredericia. The trained carpenter also designed the fittings on his own. The Danish designed a 30 x 60 x 60 cm ashtray out of marble as a special decorative piece, which exceeded anything allocated to smokers’ needs at that stage with its weight of 250 kg.
The large edition of the PK-Bowl is only produced on request by ArchitectMade today, though Poul Kjærholm also made a smaller edition to be used in homes on account of the high demand: the robust material makes the granite PH-Bowl even more durable and practical than its bigger predecessor.
Of course the granite ArchitectMade PK-Bowl not only can be used as an ashtray, but also as a dish for all other kinds of small objects. With its Danish design from 1963, it’s an eye-catcher in classic format, and a timeless and long-lasting piece of design that can be passed on for generations.
