Compact Bauhaus Wall Lamp
The handy and classic BL7 Bauhaus lamp by Gubi is the most reduced and most compact of the BL wall lamps but not any less functional.
Fixed to the wall the characteristic lampshade sticks out from the wall on a short arm. With the BL7 the lampshade can be turned and twisted and therefore the lamp is able to light any spot in its reach. The functional lamp therefore is suitable as a reading lamp, a lamp for the workplace, a bathroom lamp or for lighting a certain part of a room.
The wall lamp easily fits into any room and either looks elegant in the background and or as the centre of an ensemble. The simple design of the BL7 is even further reduced compared to other lamps of the BL series. Dur to the unmistakable functionality and the characteristic design of the designer Robert Dudley Best you can still see that it is part of the famous family of Bauhaus lamps.
The pivot point and linchpin are the rotary element in the frame and a ball joint at the lamp head. The lampshade can thus be turned in almost any position, so that the light can be optimally and purposefully arranged.
When Robert Dudley Best designed the lamps of the BL series in the 1930s they were revolutionary simple and of unusually clear and functional shapes. They are still regarded as examples of classic Bauhaus design.
This has been increased by the fact that the Brit Robert Dudley Best had close contact with Dessau, Weimar and Berlin, which were the centres of the Bauhaus movement back then. Even the two-time British premier Winston Churchill had a BL1 lamp standing on his desk in Whitehall and many architects and designers made some great designs under its light.
The wall lamp BL7 by Gubi is also available in further colours.
