ClassiCon design: furniture and lights with a story

ClassiCon was founded in 1990 by Stephan Fischer von Poturzyn, a founding member of the Design Zentrum München and a board member of Vereinigte Werkstätten AG. From the outset, the declared aim was to promote and present contemporary design alongside established names such as Eileen Gray and Eckart Muthesius – but only design that lives up to the classics in quality and formal sophistication. That is why ClassiCon is always open to new design ideas.

The portfolio includes classics and design icons of the 20th century, such as Eileen Gray's Adjustable Table E1027, as well as contemporary designs. Among the best known of these is Sebastian Herkner's Bell Table.

The name ClassiCon stands for "Classic Contemporary Design". The fascination of a new formal idea matters more than how well known its creator is. That is why the company keeps discovering exciting young designers. In the case of Konstantin Grcic, this led to a long-standing collaboration; the designer from Munich in Germany, then at the very start of his career, used furniture such as the Orcus secretary desk to pay homage to the icon Eileen Gray.

Exclusive distribution of Eileen Gray designs

ClassiCon produces and distributes the Eileen Gray collection as the worldwide licensee of Aram Designs Ltd., London, UK. In the early 1970s, Eileen Gray began working with Zeev Aram to bring her furniture and lights to series production. In 1975, she granted Zeev Aram the worldwide licence to launch, produce and distribute her designs. Production places the emphasis on high quality.

In concrete terms, high quality means that the design furniture in the classics collection carries an indelible mark and is individually numbered. The ClassiCon signature guarantees that only high-quality materials and processing techniques are used in production – in compliance with all environmental regulations – and that every ClassiCon piece has undergone thorough quality control. The logo guarantees that the product is faithful to the original and has been made in agreement with the rights holders.

Above all stands the company's philosophy: time decides what has true quality.
