The illusion of sunlight
Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken was born in 1984. He studied design at the Oslo School of Architecture and at the School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg, Sweden. After completing his master's degree in 2008, he set up his own design studios in both Oslo in Norway and Gothenburg.
Rybakken's award-winning design sits somewhere between art and functional object. He focuses on daylight and how it can be captured and transformed in materials and shapes. He has been fascinated by the effect of sunlight since childhood and aims to recreate it as closely as possible in his lighting designs. With his lights for Italian manufacturer Luceplan, Daniel Rybakken brings daylight even into windowless rooms.
