Matti Klenell, born in 1972, graduated in 1999 with a Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack, the long-established University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in Sweden. The following year, he founded Matti Klenell Studio, which now works for numerous well-known clients. Alongside projects for series production, Klenell also develops one-off pieces in his studio and works on public and private commissions.

From 2000 to 2006, Matti Klenell also taught at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. His work is now part of the permanent collection of Sweden's Nationalmuseum, among others. He has been named Swedish Designer of the Year and has won many national and international awards for his designs.

Klenell describes his design philosophy as follows:
"A good design idea is good whether its roots lie in form or in function. For me, every project is unique, which is why I try not to limit myself with a dogma or a fixed design approach. I have tried to approach my designs in a more structured way, but the results are often too rigid and unattractive. Good design has to appeal on both a functional and an emotional level."
