Tecta – German design tradition and Bauhaus heritage
Tecta is a German design manufacturer based in Lauenförde in Germany. Founded in 1956, the company is known above all for its close connection to the Bauhaus tradition and modern design history.
The company's development
A formative phase began in 1972 with Axel and Werner Bruchhäuser. Under their leadership, Tecta deepened its engagement with the ideas and design principles of modernism. To this day, the company remains closely tied to its home in Lauenförde.
Closely linked to the Bauhaus
The Bauhaus and its design principles play a central role in Tecta's identity. The company works intensively with historical designs and collaborates closely with institutions such as the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin.
Craftsmanship and local production
Tecta combines industrial design with craft-based manufacturing. A large part of production takes place in its own workshops in Lauenförde, with a focus on careful workmanship, knowledge of materials and preserving design traditions.
Preserving design history
With its Cantilever Chair Museum and the Tecta archive in Lauenförde, the company is also committed to documenting and sharing design history. The collection illustrates the development of modern design and underlines Tecta's ongoing connection to the Bauhaus and international modernism.
