The Kelim Rug carpet series: tradition meets modernity
Tradition meets modernity: Trine Andersen and ferm Living prove with the Kelim Rug that old models are wonderfully suitable for today's living spaces.
A kilim is a woven carpet that has decorated walls and floors in the Near East for thousands of years. ferm Living has been inspired by these textiles for the Kelim Rugs in two ways: Like their role models, ferm Living carpets are made using weaving techniques. And typical not only for a kilim, but also for ferm Living: the inspiring geometric patterns.
ferm Living kilim carpets are handmade, which is why each carpet is unique. The weaving technique is called "Punja" and is one of the oldest weaving techniques in the world. The weaving varies slightly from carpet to carpet depending on the person who woven the carpet. There may also be small colour differences between different carpets, as the wool yarn is hand dyed.
