The Kelim Rug Carpet Series: Tradition meets Modernity
Tradition meets modernity: Trine Andersen and ferm Living prove with the Kelim Rug that old models are wonderfully suited to today's living spaces.
A kilim is a woven carpet that has decorated walls and floors in the Near East for thousands of years. ferm Living has been inspired by these textiles for the Kelim Rugs, in two respects: Like their models, the ferm Living rugs are made using a weaving technique. And typical not only for a kilim, but also for ferm Living: the inspiring geometric patterns.
The kilim rugs by ferm Living are made by hand, which is why each rug is unique. The weaving technique is called "Punja" and is one of the oldest weaving techniques in the world. The weaving varies slightly from rug to rug depending on the person who wove the rug. There may also be slight differences in color between different rugs because the wool yarn is hand dyed.
