A lighting classic from Flos
Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed the table and floor lamps of the Taccia collection for Flos. Today, these classics shine with state-of-the-art lighting technology.
In a 1970 interview, the great Achille Castiglioni said of the Taccia: "For us, it is the Mercedes-Benz of lamps: a symbol of success, perhaps because the base resembles an ancient column. But when we designed the Taccia lamp, prestige wasn't the priority. What mattered to us above all was a surface that stays cool."
The Castiglionis conceived the Taccia in 1958 and presented the prototype a year later. However, Flos took a long time to evaluate the design before series production of the Taccia lamp began in 1962.
This lighting classic provides indirect, reflected light and has an adjustable glass diffuser: the LED in the base shines up onto the reflector plate, which then reflects the light in the desired direction. Despite its rather unusual way of producing light, the Taccia LED is suitable for a range of uses: as a desk lamp for working, as ambient lighting on a chest of drawers in the living room or bedroom, or as a floor lamp.
