Flos - Taccia Collection

Classic Lighting by Flos

Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed the table and floor lamps of the Taccia collection for Flos already in 1958. Today, the classics give light with state of the art lighting technology.

An interview with Achille Castiglioni about Taccia from 1970: “For us, this lamp is the Mercedes-Benz among luminaires; a symbol of success, possibly because the socket looks like an ancient pillar. When we designed the Taccia light, however prestige was not in the focus. It essentially concerned a surface that stays cool.”

The concept of Tacchia’s prototype was presented by the Castiglioni in1958 and one year later introduced to the public. The manufacturer Flos however took long time to examine the draft and the series production of the Tacchia lamp didn’t start before 1962.

The classic lamp offers an indirect and reflected lighting, as well as an adjustable glass diffuser: The LED bulb in the base illuminates the reflector plate inside, which reflects the light in the desired direction. Despite its rather unusual way of producing light, the Taccia LED is suitable for different purposes: As a desk lamp to work, on the dresser in the living room and in the bedroom as ambient lighting or as a floor lamp.
