Minimalist cast iron candle holders
In Nordic mythology, Heima means "home" or "world". Designer Francis Cayouette chose the word for his series of cast iron candle holders. The uneven, almost cold surface gives the Heima candle holder its character, while its rounded shapes give it a modern look.
The designer was inspired by the Nordic culture of the open fire and the arts and crafts movement of the 1950s, whose main material was cast iron. Heima pays tribute to craftsmanship and Nordic tradition.
Designer Francis Cayouette explains: "Craft has to be recognisable and have a story. I've always been fascinated by the Nordic tradition of light and cosiness from an open fire, so working on a candle holder was a natural choice. Cast iron is an exciting raw material that has been used for many years. It feels good to the touch and gives the candle holder its contours. The Heima candle holder is simple and doesn't steal the show; instead, it leaves room for its real purpose: the open flame."
The minimalist candle holders are made of cast iron and were created for cosy get-togethers with friends. They are handmade and fit beautifully into both modern and classic interiors.
