Disclosure of data

Your data is in good hands with us. We expressly assure you: we do not sell your personal data, nor do we rent it out to other companies for advertising purposes.
We only disclose your personal data to third parties if:

  • you have given us your express consent to do so in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR;
  • this is necessary in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships with you (for example to credit institutions, postal, courier and logistics companies);
  • external service providers process data on our behalf as processors. Your data is subject to the same data protection standards there as it is with us. The receiving body may only use the data for the purposes for which the data was transmitted to it. The external service providers include, in particular, data centres and companies that support us in the maintenance of IT systems and IT applications;
  • there is a legal obligation for the disclosure in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(c) GDPR; or
  • the disclosure is necessary in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR and there is no reason to assume that you have an overriding legitimate interest in your data not being disclosed.

For the purpose of processing your enquiry and your orders, it may be necessary to disclose your personal data to affiliated companies within the Connox group of companies     .
The affiliated companies of the Connox group of companies and third parties to which we disclose your personal data may only use this data for the purposes stated above. In addition, they are obliged to process the data only in accordance with our instructions and the applicable data protection laws.
Service providers acting on our behalf have been carefully selected and engaged by us and are bound by our instructions. Furthermore, we are contractually entitled to monitor the service providers' compliance with the relevant contractual and statutory rules. The external service providers can be assigned to the following categories:

  • service providers for the hosting, servicing and maintenance of our website,
  • service providers in the field of customer service
  • "dropshippers", i.e. manufacturers that ship the goods directly to you,
  • banks and other providers of payment services, also for the settlement of
  • payments,
  • dispatch providers for email newsletters as well as dispatch providers for catalogues,
  • service providers for fraud prevention that detect or prevent misuse on our site,
  • service providers in the field of marketing and web analytics,
  • service providers for customer enquiries,
  • service providers for the display of forms on the website.

Where we transfer personal data to recipients in so-called "third countries", i.e. countries outside the European Union ("EU") or the European Economic Area ("EEA") in which a level of data protection comparable to that in the EU cannot readily be assumed and we are not authorised to make the transfer on the basis of a legal obligation, we ensure that the necessary adequate level of data protection is guaranteed in the respective third country or at the recipients in the third country. This may result in particular from a so-called adequacy decision of the European Commission by which an adequate level of data protection is established for a particular third country as a whole. Alternatively, we may also base the data transfer on the so-called "EU standard contractual clauses" agreed with the recipients or on binding internal data protection rules (so-called Binding Corporate Rules). You can consult the contractual texts of the EU standard contractual clauses at the European Commission. This also applies to adequacy decisions. We will be happy to provide you with further information on the suitable and appropriate safeguards for compliance with an adequate level of data protection on request.
For transfers of data to the USA, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (EU-U.S. DPF or „DPF“) applies as a matter of priority, which guarantees an adequate level of data protection for a company in the USA certified thereunder. Where the companies concerned are certified thereunder, we point out the DPF-based data protection compliance in each case. In the course of financing our business, we in some cases assign claims arising from the purchase contracts with you - our customers - to third parties. In the course of such an assignment, the personal data required for the identification of the relevant claim is disclosed. The legal basis for the data transfer in this respect is Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. The assignees process the transferred data under their own responsibility subject to the applicable data protection provisions. For you as a customer, this does not change anything in the performance of your contract with us. Connox remains your direct contact and is entitled to receive your purchase price payments. Please refer to the explanations below for further details on the disclosure of personal data.

TLS encryption

For security reasons, this website uses transport encryption (TLS) in order to protect personal data during transmission. As a result, data is transmitted in encrypted form between your browser and our server and cannot be read by third parties. You can generally recognise an encrypted connection by the padlock symbol in the address bar of your browser.

Personal data

Pursuant to Art. 4(1) GDPR, personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person („data subject“). A natural person is regarded as identifiable who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or one or more special characteristics that are an expression of the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person. Personal data is therefore all data that can be related to you personally, in particular:

  • Your sufficiently secure password for your customer account,
  • Your order details, the products you have purchased, and the services you have used,

Collection and storage of personal data as well as the nature and purpose of its use
We process personal data when you access our website, set up a customer account or place an order with us. We also process your personal data in order to contact you as well as for advertising purposes. In connection with the purposes stated, we make content available to you, analyse the use of our platform and implement necessary security measures. If we ask you to enter certain personal data, you can of course refuse to do so. You have the choice as to which information you give us. However, we may then not be able to offer you certain products and services. Without the provision of a delivery address, for example, no furniture delivery can take place. If certain information is required (mandatory information), we will inform you of this by means of an appropriate marking.

  • for further administrative purposes. Connox uses the IP address to protect customers and to prevent or detect misuse of the website. We point out that the IP address is only used and further processed in truncated form in order to exclude a direct reference to a person.

The legal basis for the data processing is Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest follows from the purposes for data collection listed above. Under no circumstances do we use the data collected for the purpose of drawing conclusions about you as a person.
For the customer-oriented management of order processing and optimisation of customer-oriented marketing, we use Google Consent Mode (“GCM”). This data is used and stored by us for the performance of the contract and the delivery of your order (Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships).

In order to be able to process and deliver your online shop orders, we disclose the data required for this purpose to the delivery company commissioned with the delivery, for example name and delivery address (Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships). In addition, your email address may be disclosed to the delivery company. You will then receive an email so that you can use the shipment tracking service and determine at any time when your parcel will arrive. The data disclosed in this way may only be used by the receiving body to fulfil its task. Any other use of the information is not permitted. In order to be able to process product recalls or have spare parts delivered directly by manufacturers, we disclose the data required for this purpose to the respective manufacturers, for example name and delivery address (Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships). In addition, your email address may be disclosed to the manufacturers. The data disclosed in this way may only be used by the recipients to fulfil their respective task. Providing your email address is sufficient for receiving the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time, for example via a link at the end of each newsletter. You can also send us an email at any time in order to unsubscribe. The data is then deleted and no longer used for the newsletter dispatch. Data collected in newsletters and in the shop may be processed and analysed in anonymised form with the help of third parties, for example in order to optimise advertising processes.

Advertising by postal mail

On the basis of our legitimate interest in personalised direct advertising, we reserve the right to store your personal data, in particular first and last name and your postal address, in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR and to use it for sending offers and information about our products and offers by postal mail. For questions of any kind, we offer you the possibility of contacting us via a form provided on the website or of sending us an email. In this context, providing a name as well as a valid email address in the contact form is required so that we know who the enquiry comes from and can process it. Further information can be provided voluntarily. The processing of your personal data takes place, depending on the nature of your enquiry, in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR in the case of voluntary contact, in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR in the case of contract-related or pre-contractual enquiries and otherwise on the basis of our legitimate interest in processing your enquiry in accordance with Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. Your information is stored and used exclusively for processing your contact. The personal data collected in the course of using the contact form is deleted after the final processing of your enquiry, unless statutory retention obligations preclude this. Where statutory retention obligations exist, the processing is restricted or the data is blocked instead.

Product review

In the course of the comment function / customer reviews on our website, in addition to your comment, information on the time at which the comment was created and the comment name selected by you is stored and published on our website. Furthermore, your truncated IP address is also logged and stored. This storage of the IP address takes place for security reasons and in the event that the data subject infringes the rights of third parties or provides unlawful content by means of a comment submitted. We need your email address in order to contact you in the event that a third person objects to your published content as unlawful. The legal bases for the storage of your data are Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR. We reserve the right to delete comments if third parties object to them as unlawful. Every consumer review is checked for authenticity before it is published, so that it is ensured that reviews only come from consumers who have in fact also purchased the products reviewed. The check takes place by making the possibility of submitting a review dependent on a previous purchase. Before publication, the reviews are manually checked for text passages that do not comply with the law and approved.

Credit assessment and scoring

In the case of insecure payment methods (for example purchase on account), we reserve the right to carry out a credit assessment on the basis of mathematical-statistical procedures in order to safeguard our legitimate interests (protection against payment defaults) - including in the case of existing customers. Information on cookies and third-party tools

The technologies described below are used, insofar as they are technically necessary, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. Where cookies or similar technologies are used for marketing or analysis purposes, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Section 25 TDDDG.

Cookies

Connox uses so-called cookies on some web pages to enable web-based applications to manage the status of an online visit, to permit smooth navigation between the individual services and content on the website, and to provide internet users with recurring settings on Connox’s website on a permanent basis. A cookie is a small data file transferred by Connox to the user’s computer when the user browses Connox’s website. A cookie contains only information that Connox itself sends to the website visitor’s computer; private data cannot be read with a cookie. If users accept cookies, Connox has no access to their personal information. Connox can, however, identify the user’s computer with the help of cookies.

Necessary cookies

Necessary cookies are cookies that ensure the functionality of our website. Without strictly necessary cookies, the website cannot be used as intended. They are required, for example, to provide you with the shopping cart function across several pages or to ensure that registered users remain logged in when accessing different subpages of a website and do not have to re-enter their login details every time they open a new page. Necessary cookies are only Connox cookies; all information stored in the cookies is sent only to Connox and is not passed on to third parties. The legal basis for the use of necessary cookies on our website is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest, here in the technically flawless provision of our website and the services offered through it). Access to your terminal equipment for the storage and retrieval of necessary cookies is permitted without prior consent insofar as this is strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by you. Depending on the purpose, we base the processing of the personal data arising in this context in particular on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. You can deactivate necessary cookies altogether via your browser settings (see the information on managing your consents in this section); however, this may result in functional restrictions in connection with the use of our website. The provisions of Section 25 TDDDG also apply.

Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies collect information about how our website is used in order to improve its attractiveness, content and functionality. These cookies help us determine whether, which, how often and for how long subpages of our website are visited and which content users are particularly interested in. We also record movements, “clicks” and scrolling with the computer mouse in order to understand which areas of our website are of particular interest to users. The information collected is aggregated and does not enable us to draw any direct conclusions about you. It is used solely to compile statistics in order to tailor the content of our website more specifically to the needs of our users, improve the user experience and optimise our offering. Marketing cookies are also used to collect information about the websites visited by users, to create targeted advertising for users and to display advertisements tailored to their interests. They are also used to limit the frequency with which an advertisement is displayed and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These cookies may send information to Connox or to another website to which the cookie belongs (third-party cookie). The legal basis for the use of marketing cookies is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with your consent. Connox uses “session-based” cookies that are not stored permanently on the website visitor’s computer. These temporary cookies are discarded after the page is left. With the help of the information collected, Connox can analyse website usage patterns and structures. In this way, the website is continuously optimised by improving its content and simplifying its use. Connox uses “persistent” cookies. These cookies remain on customers’ computers in order to simplify shopping and registration services on their next visit. For example, the cookies may record which items customers have selected for purchase while continuing to shop. In addition, customers only have to enter passwords once on websites that require registration. Persistent cookies can be removed manually by users. The persistent cookies used by Connox are stored on your terminal equipment for up to 1000 days. They are then automatically deleted. Most browsers accept cookies by default. In the security settings, temporary and stored cookies can be permitted or prohibited independently of one another. If cookies are prohibited, certain features on Connox’s pages may not be available and some websites may not be displayed correctly. Session-based cookies must be permitted in order to use Connox’s shopping cart and checkout. If a customer generally does not want to or cannot accept cookies, they can also place orders with Connox by email, telephone or fax. Connox uses certain partner companies to make its online offering and websites more interesting for users. Accordingly, cookies from partner companies are also stored on your terminal equipment when you visit the websites. These cookies are “persistent” cookies. They remain on users’ computers and are automatically deleted after the specified lifespan. The lifespan is up to 1000 days.

Our partner companies also process the data collected exclusively in pseudonymised form. As a rule, they cannot directly draw conclusions about you. Nor are these pseudonymous data combined with your personal data. The pseudonymous data include, for example, data about which products were searched for or which products users viewed or purchased. The sole purpose of these data is to enable our partner companies, for example, to display advertising that may actually be of interest to users or to prevent users from seeing the same advertising repeatedly. The data processed through cookies are necessary for the stated purposes to safeguard our legitimate interests and the interests of third parties under Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR or pursuant to Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of the contract. Most browsers accept cookies automatically. You can configure your browser so that no cookies are stored on your computer or so that a notice always appears before a new cookie is created. However, completely disabling cookies may mean that you cannot use all the functions of our website. The cookie consent management tool is used on the website. Further information about the tool and the use of cookies is available through our cookie settings. The specific CMP configuration, including the provider, Consent ID and storage period, must be confirmed before publication.

Use of social media, online marketing, web analytics and tracking services, and tools provided by other service providers

Insofar as cookies or similar technologies are used for marketing or analysis purposes, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with German data protection law, in particular Section 25 TDDDG. Through these measures and the associated statistical recording and evaluation of the use of our website, we seek to ensure and achieve a needs-based design and continuous optimisation of our website as well as optimal marketing of our website. The described data processing operations may also be based, pursuant to Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR, on the legitimate interests of the individual providers, for example when displaying personalised advertising or informing other users of social networks about your activities on our website.

Data protection information for Friendly Captcha

This data protection information is provided by us as the website operator and relates to the “Friendly Captcha” service used by us. Our website uses the “Friendly Captcha” service provided by Friendly Captcha GmbH, Am Anger 3-5, 82237 Wörthsee, Germany (www.friendlycaptcha.com). Friendly Captcha GmbH acts as our processor. Friendly Captcha is a novel, privacy-friendly protection solution designed to make it more difficult for automated programmes and scripts (so-called “bots”) to use our website. Friendly Captcha thereby protects our website against misuse.

How it works
In certain areas of our website (for example, a contact form), we have integrated programme code from Friendly Captcha (“protective software”). This causes the visiting person’s terminal equipment, in connection with the protected area (for example, when submitting a contact form), to establish a connection to Friendly Captcha’s servers. The visiting person’s browser receives a computational challenge from Friendly Captcha. The complexity of the computational challenge depends on various risk factors. Depending on this, we can treat access to our website or individual functions as human or potentially automated.

Purpose of use
All the data mentioned is used exclusively to detect and handle potential bots and risks as described above. The purpose of processing is therefore to ensure the security and functionality of our website. We do not use the data to identify a natural person or for marketing purposes.

Storage period
If personal data is stored, it is deleted within 30 days.

Processed data
The following data is processed exclusively for the security purposes stated above:

Connection data:

  • HTTP request data, i.e. data arising each time the website is accessed (for example, user agent, browser type and operating system), as well as the referring website, logs and ports used.
  • IP address: Friendly Captcha stores IP addresses only in hashed (one-way encrypted) form, and neither we nor Friendly Captcha can draw conclusions about an individual person from them.
  • Connection exchange data: technical information about how a connection was established between the browser and the Friendly Captcha server.
  • Network statistics, for example bandwidth

Environmental data:

  • Browser properties and settings (for example, preferred language, installed fonts and local time)
  • Device data (for example, available storage, screen resolution and operating system)
  • Technical data concerning the execution of programme code (for example, error codes and browser events)

Interaction data

  • Times, frequencies and statistics of keystrokes, without enabling conclusions to be drawn about specific text entries, for example by taking into account only functional keys such as Enter or Delete.
  • Scrolling and mouse movements
  • Window adjustments, for example changes in size

Functional data, for example:

  • Version, status and configuration data of the protective software
  • Software components used
  • Random figures (for example, session ID)
  • Technical counters (for example, number of repeated connection attempts)
  • Data for executing programme code
  • Solutions to the computational challenges

The following data is stored only for the duration of the browser session in the browser’s SessionStorage and is strictly necessary to ensure the security of the website: a random Session ID (frc_sid), the number of times the protective software modules are loaded (frc_sc), the number of requests and repeated connection attempts (frc_rc), and the solutions to the computational challenges and their solution context (frc_sol). We do not set HTTP cookies and do not use tracking technologies.

Legal basis under the GDPR
Insofar as the data can be related to an individual, the legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest in protecting our website against misuse through bots, namely protection against spam and attacks (for example, mass requests), pursuant to Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR.

Data recipients
Friendly Captcha acts as our processor on an instruction- and purpose-bound basis. For the hosting and delivery of content, Friendly Captcha uses hosting services provided by Hetzner Online GmbH, based in Germany, and SCALEWAY S.A.S, based in France.

Further information
Further information, in particular about our contact details as the controller under data protection law and the contact details of our data protection officer, as well as your rights under the GDPR, can be found in the data protection notices on our website on which we have integrated Friendly Captcha.

Artificial intelligence is used in particular to support internal processes, improve our services and optimise customer communication. AI is always used under human supervision and exclusively for the purposes described below.

  • automatic translation of support messages,
  • support in formulating suggested replies,
  • classifying, prioritising and summarising enquiries.

The AI systems are used exclusively to support our employees. No fully automated decision-making or automated processing with legal effect takes place. Decisions are always made by natural persons.

  • analyse interaction and usage data,
  • optimise content, timing and dispatch logic,
  • segment user groups on a statistical basis,
  • improve the relevance of information and communication.

Where possible, processing is pseudonymised or aggregated. Processing for marketing or tracking purposes only takes place on the basis of appropriate consent where this is legally required.

AI-supported research and analysis assistance

The use is in particular for:

  • supporting research and analysis tasks,
  • summarising publicly available information,

The Usercentrics CMP stores your consent decision so that it can be taken into account during subsequent visits to our website and so that we can demonstrate whether and, where applicable, to what extent you have given or refused consent. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the privacy or cookie settings available on our website. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.

According to the information provided by Usercentrics, consent data processed through the CMP is stored within the European Union. The specific retention period depends on the configuration of the Usercentrics CMP implemented on our website and the applicable legal requirements.

Further information on the processing of personal data by Usercentrics can be found in the provider's privacy policy: Datenschutzerklärung | Usercentrics

Retention periods

We store personal data only for as long as required for the respective purpose. We then delete the data unless statutory retention obligations or other legitimate reasons require further storage. The statutory retention periods apply in particular to documents relevant under commercial and tax law. The specific periods for individual systems and data categories are defined in a deletion concept and must be reconciled with the systems actually configured before publication.

Competitions and marketing campaigns

The present reference version does not describe any specific competitions or other marketing campaigns. Such processing activities are therefore not added as a blanket provision. If competitions or campaigns are carried out, a separate section specifying the purpose, data categories, legal basis, recipients, retention period and conditions of participation must be added before publication.

Competent supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular with the authority responsible for your usual place of residence, your place of work or the registered office of our company, if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law. The supervisory authority responsible for Connox GmbH is the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hanover, Germany.

Erasure and blocking of personal data

We process and store personal data only for the period required to achieve the storage purpose (e.g. proper business processing) or corresponding to a statutory storage or retention period. If the storage purpose no longer applies or a statutory storage or retention period expires, we delete the personal data. If statutory storage or retention obligations continue to apply, for example after proper business processing or final response to your enquiries, we restrict processing, for example by blocking your data. After this period expires, we retain the information required under commercial and tax law relating to the contractual relationship for the periods prescribed by law. During this period (generally ten years from conclusion of the contract), the data is processed again solely in the event of an audit by the tax authorities. We delete the data collected and stored in connection with the customer account no later than when the storage purpose no longer applies or you notify us that your customer account should be deleted. However, early deletion of your personal data is not possible if and insofar as the data is still required for contract processing or statutory provisions require us to retain it for longer.

Rights of data subjects

As a data subject, you have the right:

  • pursuant to Art. 15 GDPR, to request information about your personal data processed by us. In particular, you may request information about the purposes of processing, the categories of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned retention period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or objection, the existence of a right to lodge a complaint, the origin of your data if it was not collected from us, and the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, where applicable, meaningful information about its details;
  • pursuant to Art. 16 GDPR, to request without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate or completion of your personal data stored by us;
  • pursuant to Art. 17 GDPR, to request the erasure of your personal data stored by us, unless processing is necessary for exercising the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;
  • pursuant to Art. 18 GDPR, to request restriction of the processing of your personal data insofar as the accuracy of the data is contested by you, the processing is unlawful but you reject its erasure and we no longer need the data, you need it for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or you have objected to processing pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR;
  • pursuant to Art. 20 GDPR, to receive the personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or to request that it be transmitted to another controller;
  • pursuant to Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR, to withdraw at any time the consent you have given to us. This means that we may no longer continue the data processing based on this consent in the future, and
  • pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR, to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority at your usual place of residence or work or at our registered office.

Right to object

If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR, you have the right under Art. 21 GDPR to object to the processing of your personal data if there are grounds relating to your particular situation or if the objection is directed against direct advertising by us. In the latter case, you have a general right to object, which we will implement without requiring you to state a particular situation. If you exercise your right to object, we will stop processing the data concerned. Further processing remains reserved if we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests and rights or if the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. If you wish to exercise any of the rights described above, sending us an email is sufficient.
