Ceramic Piggy Bank in the Finnish Tradition
Artek ’s ceramic “Pauper” piggy bank is inspired by an old Finnish tradition in which a wooden statue of a beggar is placed in front of a church to collect money for the poor. For COMPANY, the beggar evokes the Kaamos, the polar night—the darkest and coldest time of the year, when the most vulnerable need help the most. The Pauper piggy bank is part of a family of handmade ceramic objects designed by COMPANY for the FIN/JPN Friendship Collection by Artek .
