Chair Made of Solid Wood and Plywood

Børge Mogensen presented the design for the “ Søborg ” chair in 1950 with the intention of creating a chair made of plywood and solid wood that would be both functional and comfortable for hours on end.

A Blend of Craftsmanship and Industrial Production

The chair combines craftsmanship with industrial manufacturing processes. The frame is made of handcrafted solid wood, while the curved seat and backrest are made of industrially manufactured plywood. In 1952, Mogensen expanded the collection to include a chair with a steel frame. The chair, made of solid wood, plywood, and steel, remains modern to this day and exudes a calm atmosphere. Precisely because it is so timeless and simple, it can be used in both residential and public spaces. The “ Søborg ” chair by Børge Mogensen is manufactured by Fredericia in various versions. The chair is also available in an upholstered version as an option.
