Bulb Table Lamp

Iconic Double Light Bulb

The “ Bulb ” table lamp from Ingo Maurer is a classic of modern lighting design. “ Bulb ” pays homage to the light bulb: This extraordinary lamp takes the form of an oversized light bulb, with a smaller lamp at its center serving as the light source. The “ Bulb ” table lamp from Ingo Maurer is made of hand-blown crystal glass with a base of high-gloss chrome-plated metal. The package from Bulb includes a mirrored-dome incandescent bulb (E27, 230/125 volts, max. 100 W). The “ Bulb ” table lamp was designed by Ingo Maurer in 1966. Bulb was one of his first lamps in 1966 and was initially produced in a small series. Ingo Maurer had only recently returned from the U.S. and was now running a one-man operation with occasional helpers in basement rooms. The unusual design reduced the “ Bulb ” lamp to its light source. This marked a departure from traditional lamp design featuring a shade, frame, and base. With its unconventional design, “ Bulb ” soon attracted interest and found buyers as well as imitators both at home and abroad. This success quickly earned Bulb a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
