The high-quality chrome-plated steel tube frame, combined with the colored, matte PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) body, creates an interesting mix of materials. The sturdy and weather-resistant plastic is a material of the highest aesthetic and functional quality. For its visual and functional qualities, the Mobil Kartell ’s container was awarded the coveted Compasso d’Oro design prize in 1994.
