Description
Armchair with four-star base
& “Something has to happen between objects and people &,” Konstantin Grcic once said in an interview. It seems as though he had adopted this statement as a guiding principle for his Chair One, designed in 2003 for Magis . After all, the skeletal and sculptural-looking chair caused a stir not only among design experts. For indoor and outdoor use
However, the Chair One 4Star is by no means merely an avant-garde piece of seating furniture. The chair is a harmonious blend of material, design, and industrial manufacturing. The Chair One 4Star rests on a four-leg base and is therefore swivel-mounted. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, as it is treated to resist rust and is fire-retardant. For the Chair One 4Star, designer Konstantin Grcic used die-cast aluminum for the first time in an entire seat shell, which is additionally surface-treated with fluorinated titanium and finished with a polyester coating. The four-star base is also made of die-cast aluminum.
