The "nerd" among chairs

The Nerd Chair stands out above all for its unusual transition between the seat and the backrest. This small but striking feature gives the chair a strong personality and an iconic character. In the English-speaking world, a “ & ” “oddball & ” is called a nerd, which explains the name of the chair from the Scandinavian manufacturer Muuto .

For the design of the Nerd Chair, designer David Geckeler was honored with the 2011 Beckers International Design Award and the Muuto Talent Award 2012. Despite—or perhaps because of—its unique appearance, the Nerd Chair exhibits many traits of a classic piece of Scandinavian design furniture.
