The work of the pioneers of modernism vividly presented
Bauhaus. Updated edition from TASCHEN Verlag is a comprehensive and detailed tribute to the most influential school of architecture, design, and art of the 20. century. Although the Bauhaus existed for only 14 years (1919–1933), it left an indelible mark on modern design. Based on a wealth of documents from the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, this volume tells the story of an idealistic community of artists and architects who were determined to fundamentally rethink design and create a better future. From Josef Albers and Marianne Brandt to Walter Gropius, Paul Klee, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and many others, the work of these pioneers of modernism is vividly presented. With numerous illustrations and an in-depth analysis of the works, the book offers a comprehensive overview of the groundbreaking ideas and works that emerged from the Bauhaus.- Includes extensive material from the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin
