118 F Wicker Armchair

Chair with armrests and Viennese wickerwork

The 118 F wicker armchair by Sebastian Herkner for Thonet is a modern yet delicate chair whose form is reminiscent of the classic bentwood chairs from Thonet and whose subtle elegance makes it an eye-catcher at any dining table. The principle of reducing a chair to as few components as possible was introduced by Michael Thonet as early as the mid- 9. .

Curved seat frame and Viennese wickerwork

The timeless 118 F armchair draws inspiration from the 214 bentwood chair in the shape of its curved seat frame. The hand-crafted seat is also covered with the iconic Viennese wickerwork (rattan). The chair’s legs introduce new design elements. Rounded at the back and straight on the inside, the legs mirror the horseshoe shape of the seat. Added to this is a wide and inviting armrest, which makes sitting in this model 118 F particularly comfortable. Refined details give the 118 F armchair a less dominant appearance while also making it more elegant. This makes it versatile and allows it to be integrated into a wide variety of settings—both in the home and in public spaces. Available in various versions.
