S 220 DRW Swivel Chair with Casters

Office chair with ergonomic seat shell

The S 220 DRW swivel chair with casters from Thonet , designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin (Industrial Facility), offers an innovative reinterpretation of the traditional design language of the famous 214 and 209 bentwood chairs. Featuring an ergonomic seat shell made of molded wood on a lightweight tubular steel frame, this stackable chair offers a perfect combination of comfort, functionality, and aesthetics. The organic shape of the shell comfortably and supportively cradles the user, while the chair’s elegant waist allows for comfortable rocking. Particularly noteworthy is the smoothly rounded front edge of the seat shell—also known as the “ & ” or “waterfall edge” ( & )—which not only enhances seating comfort but also creates a harmonious connection between material quality and aesthetics. This sophisticated design prevents pressure points and integrates seamlessly with the curves of the tubular steel base. Available in various wood types and finishes, as well as with optional bentwood armrests, the S 220 DRW swivel chair is a versatile piece of furniture for both residential and commercial use.
