Thonet ’s “ S 33 ” cantilever chair is the first cantilever chair in the history of furniture. It was first presented and used by Mart Stam in 1927 at the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart. With its innovative concept—a chair no longer resting on four legs—the S 33 cantilever chair is a part of design history and a classic design that has lost none of its charm to this day.In addition to its minimalist aesthetic appeal, the “ S 33 ” chair also impresses with its comfortable, springy feel. The versatility of this tubular steel classic is also reflected in the selection of materials. The steel frame is upholstered in leather or fabric in various colors and finishes and is also available for outdoor use ( Thonet All Seasons). The “ S 33 ” was followed by the “ Thonet S 34” model—the tubular steel cantilever chair with armrests.
