Bascule Highback & Ottoman

Lounge Chairs – Relaxed Seating with the Bascule Highback & Ottoman by Vitra

Leaning back takes on a new sense of lightness: The Bascule Highback & Ottoman by Vitra combines generous lounge comfort with a deliberately relaxed aesthetic. Developed in 2026 in collaboration with Studio Œ, the armchair is characterized by its loosely draped fabric upholstery, which gives it a soft, cozy look. The high backrest creates a particularly sheltered space for reading, resting, and unwinding. Inside, a newly developed Vitra seating mechanism with automatic weight adjustment. It automatically adapts to the sitter’s weight, facilitating a smooth transition to a relaxed seating position without the need for complicated adjustments. The matching ottoman extends the armchair to include a comfortable place to rest your legs, turning Bascule into a spacious retreat. Bascule is available in high-back and low-back versions and comes with two different base options. In addition to the ottoman, a bench is also available as a complementary piece.
