Lightweight Stool Made of Corrugated Cardboard
The “ Wiggle Stool ” stool from Vitra is a signature design piece by architect Frank O. Gehry. Just like the wave-shaped “Wiggle Side Chair,” the stool of the same name is made of lightweight yet sturdy corrugated cardboard. This makes the stool not only a versatile piece of seating that’s easy to reposition, but also a unique design piece with natural charm.Cardboard Furniture
The idea to create seatingout of
cardboard came to Gehry while looking at his architectural models: “One day in my office, I looked at a stack of corrugated cardboard—the material I used to build architectural models—and I started playing with it, gluing it together and cutting it into shape with a hand saw and a pocket knife.” Contrary to the stool’s lightweight appearance, its unique construction and wave-like shape make it exceptionally sturdy.
