The Children’s Table 90B was designed by Finnish design legend Alvar Aalto. Like Aalto’s world-famous stool, the table has a round top surface and L-shaped legs that softly enter the tabletop. The combination of natural materials with clear shapes ensures that many Aalto designs even today look modern, with the Finn becoming an icon of Nordic design.
But of course, Aalto wasn’t only considering the pretty shape when designing the Table 90B: as an architect he also focussed on construction and practical usage. Initially the furniture was designed for the library in Wyborg, which is why it also fulfils the practical demands of furniture.
Artek produces the Children’s Table 90B from painted birch veneer. In addition to the natural-coloured birch wood version, the three-legged table is also available in black, white, orange, blue or with a Moomin troll décor. The Children’s Chair N65 and Children’s Stool NE60 match the Artek table particularly well, as all three possess Aalto’s signature clarity and harmony.
