Professor Heikki Orvola was born in Helsinki, Finland, in 1943. He is one of the driving forces of Finnish design and works with glass, ceramics, cast iron and textiles. Although Orvola works in the applied arts, he also uses many different materials to express his pure art.
During his career as a designer, Heikki Orvola has received several awards and prizes, including the Kaj Franck Prize in 1998 – perhaps the most important Finnish design award.
