The JS. THONET collection is a tribute to Thonet's iconic tubular steel furniture, reinterpreted by renowned designer Jil Sander. Internationally celebrated for her purist aesthetic, she combines precise craftsmanship, refined materials and timeless elegance in this exceptional collection.
With the two design lines Serious and Nordic, Jil Sander gives the legendary designs of the 1920s – including the S 64 cantilever chair and the B 97 nesting tables – a new dimension. High-gloss lacquered wooden details, refined tubular steel frames and seats and backrests in Viennese cane or leather create a subtle yet distinctive evolution of the classic design.
Jil Sander drew inspiration for the collection from luxurious, long-lasting materials: the deep gloss of a Steinway grand piano, the supple feel of fine leather upholstery and the subtle elegance of nickel silver. Every piece in the collection bears Jil Sander's engraved facsimile signature – a mark of the exclusivity of this special collaboration.
