Design classics & innovative new designs from leading brands

Furniture manufacturers such as Vitra, Knoll, Kartell, Fritz Hansen, Artek and many more are represented in our online shop – and with them, distinctive design classics. Chairs such as the Eames Plastic Chairs by Vitra have shaped homes and public spaces since the 1950s. The Egg chair by Fritz Hansen was designed in 1958 specifically for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen and has since become a byword for Danish furniture design around the world. Our carefully selected range spans many eras and international design styles. Discover, for example, the timeless elegance of Scandinavian furniture, reflected in iconic shapes and silhouettes.

Manufacturers such as Normann Copenhagen, Muuto, HAY, Fatboy, Skagerak, String and Jan Kurtz bring innovative new designs to the furniture market. Sustainable materials are becoming increasingly important. Function, material and aesthetics come together as one – design that inspires and meets essential requirements without compromise. Muuto, HAY and Normann Copenhagen focus mainly on the home – coffee tables, armchairs, umbrella stands, upholstered furniture, dining tables and sideboards. Skagerak, Fermob and Fatboy, for example, offer outdoor and garden furniture. String, on the other hand, specialises in highly functional office furniture. Every manufacturer has its own distinctive style, shaped by the work of internationally known designers.

Buying furniture online – delivery times, returns & complaints

Furniture usually has longer delivery times than home accessories. For reasons of cost and space, it isn't possible to keep large pieces such as sofas and beds in stock at all times. This means we order the piece you choose from the manufacturer, who may need to make it first. Depending on the item and manufacturer, delivery takes just a few working days. Small furniture that is in stock can often be delivered within the same timeframe. The product pages always show up-to-date information on whether an item is in stock and how long delivery will take.

A piece of furniture can sometimes look different at home than in the product photos. That's why, just as with home accessories, you can return furniture. The return period is four weeks. If you return an item within this period, you will of course get your money back. As larger furniture is usually delivered by a freight carrier, the return costs – unlike for parcel deliveries – are paid by you. You'll find all further information on returns and complaints in our Help section.

The right furniture for your living situation

Finding the right furniture for your home isn't always easy. You're not always renovating, so your walls, wallpaper, flooring and any existing furniture already narrow down the choice. Which furniture suits which floor? Which chairs go with which chest of drawers? And which furniture is right for small, large or awkwardly shaped rooms?

First things first: measure your room accurately and draw a plan. You'll find exact dimensions for each of our pieces, so you can put your room together piece by piece. Measure your existing furniture too and draw it into your paper room. Or cut the furniture out of paper so you can move it around. This quickly shows you the different ways you can arrange and combine furniture.

Room size is key. For small rooms, adaptable shelves and shelving systems – from String, for example – are ideal. They create storage space and fill alcoves. Modular upholstered furniture such as Muuto's is also flexible – from a two-seater to a corner sofa. Slim chairs without armrests work better than armchairs. Bulky coffee tables aren't needed at all: small side tables, such as those from Normann Copenhagen, are a stylish alternative. And you can hide a workspace in a functional secretary desk. When closed, it looks like a chest of drawers, so your living room still feels like a living room. Müller Möbelwerkstätten are masters of space-saving design.

In larger rooms, an inviting armchair creates a focal point. Large dining tables leave room for chairs with armrests, making them the central meeting place for family and friends. Cupboards can alternate with shelving walls. Serving trolleys and stools can be arranged decoratively with matching home accessories and lighting.

Your floor also matters when choosing furniture. White furniture can quickly look sterile on white tiles. Dark floors, on the other hand, show off white furniture in style. White furniture also works on light laminate or parquet: this combination creates the light, cheerful look typical of Scandinavian design.

Wood with wood? Wood is and will remain one of the most beautiful natural materials – wooden furniture smells pleasant, is timeless and creates a cosy atmosphere. The different woods in a room no longer need to come from the same family. Here, too, the overall look is what counts. A light maple table goes beautifully with dark parquet – or vice versa. To keep the look cohesive, choose woods with a similar grain and texture.

To avoid overloading your room with wood, combine it with coloured furniture and accessories. A few modern plastic design chairs make a rustic wooden dining table look young and fresh. Dark woods work well with black and muted shades such as grey, khaki, sand or aubergine. Green and yellow add cheerfulness, while blue brings a fresh feel. This is also a great way to integrate existing furniture into a new room concept. Be bold!

What else to look out for when buying furniture

Which furniture glides are the right ones? Depending on your flooring, chairs, armchairs and sofas in particular need furniture glides. For most furniture, we stock suitable glides – made of felt, for example – in our shop. You'll find them directly on the product page and can reorder them separately if needed.

How should I care for my furniture? Wooden furniture in particular needs special care. You'll find care instructions on the product pages, so you can enjoy your furniture for longer.

How far from the radiator should furniture stand? When furnishing your room, place furniture about a hand's width away from the radiator. This ensures that even delicate materials stay looking good for a long time. If you want to hide an unattractive radiator behind upholstered furniture, leave a gap of at least 50 cm. Only then will the radiator continue to work efficiently.
