Cast iron stoves with a Danish tradition
Morsø, a long-established Danish company, has been making cast iron stoves since 1853 and is one of the best-known iron foundries in the country. Almost every Dane thinks of Morsø Jernstøberi when it comes to stoves for indoors and outdoors, and associates the company with excellent quality and Danish craft tradition. For generations, Morsø has been regarded as the epitome of the Danish stove: timeless and modern, efficient and cosy. Incidentally, every second stove in Denmark is a Morsø.
N. A. Christensen founded the iron foundry on the island of Mors in the Limfjord. With a handful of employees, he quickly turned the company into one of the country's leading foundries, and by the end of the 19th century Morsø's cast iron products were known throughout Denmark. The freestanding stoves were particularly popular, and they still form the core of the Morsø range today.
In 1915, King Christian X granted Morsø the title "Purveyor to His Majesty the King", which was renamed "Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court" in 1969. The royal family became aware of the foundry after Morsø began equipping churches and other public buildings with its stoves around the turn of the 20th century. Some of these stoves are still in place today at Amalienborg Palace and other residences of the Danish royal family.
The modern era of Morsø began in the 1960s, when the company succeeded in bringing the classic stove back into people's homes – even though central heating had been installed in many Danish households a decade earlier. A stove in the living room still offers a certain way of life that modern heating can't match.
Building on this tradition, Morsø has also created an outdoor collection that is both innovative and beautifully designed, so you can enjoy your time outside. The range includes stoves that work as both a barbecue and a fire pit, as well as numerous accessories that make barbecuing and sitting outdoors with Morsø something special.
Danish cast iron cookware
Morsø has also been making cast iron cookware since the 19th century. The company has produced a stylish range of functional cast iron pots and pans in appealing Scandinavian design, made to enrich everyday life at home.
