A British-American design studio

Sam Hecht is a British designer, born in London in the UK in 1969. He completed his master's in industrial design at the Royal College of Art in London and spent three years each in California and Tokyo in Japan before returning to London in 1999. He particularly admires the work of David Chipperfield and the belief that even the simplest things can be a source of inspiration.

American designer Kim Colin studied both art history and architecture in her home city of Los Angeles in the USA. In 1997, she moved to London and taught at the Royal College of Art. In 2002, she and Sam Hecht founded the design studio Industrial Facility in London.

The two designers founded the studio to explore and contextualise products, furniture and environments, giving them a new identity. The studio designs a wide variety of objects in relation to spatial, cultural and performative landscapes for international companies operating worldwide. Its work includes design objects, furniture, exhibitions and clothing.
