Bertjan Pot was born in Nieuwleusen in the Netherlands in 1975. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven until 1998 and, in 1999, founded "Monkey Boys" together with Daniel White. Since 2003, Bertjan Pot has worked as an independent designer.
Fascinated by materials and industrial manufacturing methods, Pot also works on a freelance basis. His designs combine computer aesthetics with industrial production methods, always based on function and potential, and are produced by companies including Stitsch, Moooi, Arco, Domestic and Drisag.
In 2005, he won the Elle Décor Award for his Carbon Chair, developed with Marcel Wanders for Moooi, which is also part of the permanent collection of MoMA in New York in the USA.
