Matti Klenell

Matti Klenell, born in 1972 graduated in 1999 from “Master of Fine Arts” in the tradition rich Konstfack of the University of Applied Arts in Stockholm. One year after, he founded the Matti Klenell studio that works together with namely companies today. Beside projects for the series production, Klenell also develops unique pieces and works for public and private orders.

Matti Klenell furthermore worked at the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm between 2000 and 2006. His works are part of the permanent exposition of the Swedish national museum among others today, he was honored “Designer of the year” and could win numerous national and international awards with his works.

He describes his design philosophy as follows:
”A good design idea is goof, not depending of the roots are findable in the form or the function. Every single project is unique for me and that is the reason why I am not trying to hold on to a Dogma or a common design approach – I tried to make my designs structured, but the results may often be too rigid and unappealing. Good design has to be appealing with its function as well as emotionally.”
