Hay - Soft Edge

The soft moulded seat and backrests allow for "dynamic sitting". The corners of the extremely thin seat surface are bent away from the body allowing it to comfortably adapt to human movements.

Light, Stackable Chairs Made of Wood

The Soft Edge series was designed by Boris Berlin and Aleksey Iskos and is produced by the Danish manufacturer Hay. It is characterised by an innovative design that ensures a high degree of comfort. Whilst the soft moulded seats and backrests allow for "dynamic sitting", the legs out of solid oak or powder-coated steel contribute to the individual charm of the stools and chairs.

Innovative Manufacturing Technology for Optimal Results

Despite its simple look, the series' furniture is created using the latest production techniques. In the 50s, people had already begun experimenting with the possibilities of veneer, but had quickly reached their limits. Nevertheless, the designer duo took on this challenge and were able to produce the Soft Edge series: light, stackable and minimalistic. The corners of the extremely thin seat surface are bent away from the body allowing it to comfortably adapt to human movements.

Sturdy Chairs and Stools

The series offers a wide range of possible uses. Thanks to the many variations offered - chairs, stools and bar stools - the right piece of furniture can be found for every room in the house. Soft Edge is also ideal for bars and restaurants since the extreme lightness of the chairs and stools make it possible for them to be easily stacked.
